We are thrilled that you would like to volunteer to work with the birds at Feathered Family. Before submitting an application please read all of the info provided below to be sure you will be comfortable working with special needs and behaviorally challenged birds.
All Volunteers must commit to at least 2 hours per week, at least every other week.
Volunteers are expected to show up on time, and stay the entire time they commit to.
Volunteer work is DIRTY and hard, cleaning cages is always first on the list of things to be done.
Socializing birds is not always easy, or fun.
Every volunteer takes a risk of being bitten and must sign a form releasing Feathered Family from liability.
Volunteers often are needed to do things that involve no interaction with birds, such as building toys.
Volunteers who work outreach must be able to present well to the public.
Volunteers who do transport must show proof of drivers license and insurance.
Volunteers who have birds at home must show current health testing for birds.
Those involved in the volunteer to adopt program will be evaluated at the end of each shift.
Volunteers may also be asked to assist with administrative work.
Working with birds is LOUD, all the time!
Volunteers must be at least 13 years old.
All volunteers under 18 must have parental consent and parents must sign the release forms.
If you feel that you can handle all of the above, want to work with birds, and have the time in your life to offer to Feathered Family then please click the link below and fill out the volunteer application! We need new friendly faces!
At the current time we are looking for Volunteers who are able to commit some week day hours. Our weekend Volunteers are wonderful and well established with the birds, now we need your help the rest of the week!
