Senegal Parrot

(Poicephalus Sengalus)

A very popular companion parrot, the Senegal is the second most common African parrot species bred in captivity. A companion Senegal will need a large cage, as they love to preform acrobatics, and are high energy birds. One should provide plenty of toys to keep these darlings entertained, they have a potential to be mischievous if left to their own devices. It has also been reccomended to supply them with a playgym, as they enjoy climbing and swinging, and this is more possible on a gym than in the confines of a cage. Known to speak in adorable soft voices they can be shocking to hear when the give an alarm or contact call. Young Senegals have been known to go through a Nippy or Bluffing stage, where they are most like human children testing limits. Once this stage is past they develop strong bonds to their favored human and become fantastic companions.
