Red is a 11 year old male Greenwing. He came to us very bonded to Jane, however Jane has decided in the past few months that she wants very little to do with him and attacks him randomly so they are now caged apart. Red remains very bonded to Jane and plays with her out of cage when they can be supervised to prevent Jane harming him.

Red is a gentle giant, just a very sweet bird. The only aggression he's ever shown was over Jane. Even when he feels threatened himself, such as for grooming, the worst he does is to scream, he has never attacked a human since being with Feathered Family.

While Red is a real beauty he does need lots of help staying that way. He likes to bathe daily if possible, and he has to be monitored to make sure that he does not pluck around his legs. The plucking there is habitual and is mostly stopped, but once in a while he will revert out of boredom. He requires a great deal of toys to keep him busy and he goes through at least one large wooden toy a week, if not more. Red also has a very severe grooming fear and it is difficult to do even the most mundane of grooming on him. We work with him at every grooming to help him through them, but so far he has not become more accepting of it.
