Pumpkin is a very special bird, who also has very special needs. She lost her left eye at some point in her life and had a serious infection in the socket when she came to us at Feathered Family. We have very little history on her (or any of the birds she lived with) due to her being an Animal Control seizure. The birds were in very hazardous conditions, and extremely underweight when the were taken. Since being with us we have treated Pumpkins eye socket, but it requires constant vigilance to prevent further infection. She is at a normal weight now, though she remains a small blue and gold macaw.
Pumpkin does not care for most women, and only likes very confident men. She was strongly bonded with a Green Wing macaw but we had to seperate them because they were often violent with each other. Pumpkin does get very hormonal during her season and needs special understanding of a mature macaw who is in breeding season.
That all said she is a wonderful bird, with a huge vocabulary, and who loves to make people laugh. She is an accomplished flier, though her wings are clipped now for safety. We hope that the right person will come into her life, and help her blossom into the fantastic bird we can see inside her.
Pumpkin has made a great deal of progress at Feathered Family and will now go to most women and men as long as her current favorite people are not around. Pumpkin just wants a family to call her own, she really loves to be loved and to give love, we hope she can find that special home soon!
