Patagonian Conure

(Cyanoliseus Patagonus)

There are two species of Patagonian Conure, the greater and the lesser. The Greater patagonian conure is very rare in American aviculture, so here we will be dealing with the lesser. The Patagonian Conure is the largest of all conures, reaching 18 inches in length, and up to 215 grams. Sadly, these birds are threatened in the wild, with farmers flooding their land and due to habitat wreckage. While these parrots can be endearing companions they do require a lot of one on one time in order to remain tame. Many who share their lives with Patagonian Conures say that they resemble Macaws more than Conures, due to their shaped eye patches, and personalities.

Thank you  Diane for allowing us to show the photo of Detre. Also, thank you Yogi for allowing us to use the photo of Ollie. They are both beautiful.
