Nanday Conure
(Nandayus Nenday)
These beautiful birds have a reputation for being extremely social. Known to spend time in the wild with Monk Parakeets and as great aviary birds they can also be fantastic companion parrots. Of course, as with any conure, they do have the potential for some extreme noise, so this should be taken into account when bringing one into your home. Nanday's reach sexual maturity at a young age (3 years or thereabouts) and this means that those kept in a flock should be monitored closely to prevent unwanted breeding. These are generally small parrots, reaching 12 inches and weighing in at only around 5 ounces. Some of these darling parrots are fantastic escape artists, so its best to be prepared for this and have proper secure caging available.
Thanks to Tiffany for sharing Vlad's photo with us, she is beautiful. Thank you again Stephanie for allowing us to show one of your parrots, Gonz is a prize.
