Maroon-Bellied Conure
(Phyrrhura Frontalis)
While the Maroon-Bellied Conure looks a great deal like the Green-Checked Conure these lovely birds are more avilable than their cousins. Known for their quiet nature, and love of bathing these wonderful birds are becoming hugely popular as companion parrots. The Maroon-Bellied conure is said to have a stable personality, so much so that they can be appropriate companions for children. While they are capable of making noise if displeased or frightened these darlings are generally so quiet that they are able to live in apartments and other close quarters living situations without the neighbors ever complaining. It has been reccomended to supply Maroon-Bellied Conures with both water dishes and bottles as they seem to adore soaking their foods and it can be nearly impossible to keep clean drinking water handy with only a bowl.
Thank you Hugh, for providing me with this lovely photo of a Maroon-Bellied Conure. The owner is unknown, as is the birds name, but if its yours please contact us and we will credit it properly.
