Hahns Macaw
Ara Nobilis Nobilis
The smallest macaw in the family, the Hahns macaw is anything but small in personality. Popular due to being small and easy to house, they are also well known for being easy to train and for being extremely outgoing. They learn speech easily, and can have quite large vocabularies. They also seem to have a sense of humor unrivaled by any other macaw.
Also known as "Red shoulder macaws" the Hahns are delicate birds, averaging about 12 inches. They require a good sized cage due to being very active, but not one nearly as large as their big cousins need.
Hahns macaws can learn bad habits just as easily as good ones, so its a good idea to think before you act around them. They have been known to pick up words the first time they hear them, so one must be ever conscious of what is said in front of them.
These darling macaws have charmed many a large macaw lover. They have every bit of the macaw personality in a smaller package!
