Brown-Headed Parrot
(Poicephalus Cryptoxanthus)

The brown headed parrot is about the same size as a Senegal parrot at 9 inches, and can weight from 115 - 125 grams. They can live from 20-25 years with the right care. Country of Origin Southeastern Africa. Natural Habitat Sparsely wooded savannas and trees along riverbanks

Although the size of a Senegal the Brown-Head had a closer temperament to the Meyer's. Both love to be petted and will interact with the whole family, they are sweet and easy going birds.
The Brown-Head and the Senegal look very similar as well, both have light green bodies and yellow underwings, however the Senegal has a grey head.
Of the Poicephalus parrots in captivity, the Brown-Head is the least available, this bird is so rare in captivity that even some seasoned aviculturists when shown the baby birds were unable to identify them. While the Brown-Head maybe the least available of the Poicephalus family the Brown-Head is also know to be the least likely of the family to bite.
Yet another clownish bird, the Brown-Head can talk and loves to interact with people the Brown-Head makes a wonderful companion for any family. As with all Poicephalus parrots be sure to give them plenty of toys to play with.
Recommend cage size is 20" x 24" with bar spacing of 5/8 to 3/4 inches.
