Blue-Fronted Amazon

(Amazona Aestiva Xanthopteryx) And (Amazona Aestiva Aestiva)

The beautiful Blue-Fronted Amazon comes in two subspecies, one (the xanthopteryx) being the more common and colorful of the subspecies. Blue-Fronts have a reputation for being either very sweet, or very vicious birds, depending on things like enviroment and natural temperment. Some can be very docile, and loving in the hands of their companion people, while being attack birds when anyone else is involved. Known for being territorial, it is important to establish good step-up training with these parrots in order to be able to do things such as clean cages and change food and water. Hens have a reputation for being slightly less aggressive, but this does not hold true to all hens. Some males will be more docile, and some hens more voilitile than expected, a lot of this is a matter of how they are raised by their human care takers. It should also be noted that the Blue-Fronted Amazon is known to be one of the "Hot Three" amazons, which are notorious for becoming aggressive during mating season.
