Feathered Family is dedicated to the health and well being of all companion parrots. We, unfortunately, cannot take every parrot in need into Feathered Family, nor do all parrots need to come to us before finding a new home. Because of this we have set up our Assisted Adoptions program.

This is a public service provided by Feathered Family and its volunteers, to help people who need a new home for their bird to find people who are looking to adopt a bird. We have had a lot of success with this program, helping parrots find new homes where they can be loved, well cared for, and happy members of a family. We do not charge for this service, but as always we ask that you consider a donation to help offset the costs of care for our resident parrots at Feathered Family, showing your support for what we do helps keep our doors open and makes sure that no bird is ever turned away due to lack of funds. Due to the large number of assisted adoption requests we get we will give higher priority to the requests of parties who donate and help support our work, so that we may continue to serve the needs of parrots who are not eligible for the Assisted Adoptions Program.

If you are interested in adopting through our assisted adoptions program, please fill out an Adoptions Pre-Screening form, HERE. Please do not forget to mark your interest in the assisted adoptions program, incomplete applications or those without this choice marked are not considered for this program.

If you are interested in placing a bird into the Assisted Adoptions program, please read below and we will do our very best to help connect you with a suitable home for your bird.

Is your bird a healthy, well adjusted bird who is just in need of a new home due to circumstances? Feathered Family is happy to assist in home to home adoptions, from your home to a new home. We do not do the legwork for you, but we are happy to connect you to people who are interested in adopting. You will still need to screen the home, meet the potential adopters, and make your own choice.

We offer this service because many birds can be placed from their current home to a new one without passing through rescue, and we feel that if this is possible it is a better choice. Birds who come through rescue are in essence going through one more home before going to their new home. If its possible to cut out the middleman, US, we recommend doing so.

We do try to sort our pre-screening applications via species, so we do our best to give you information on the parties who are best suited to your parrot.

**Please Note** This program is not suited to birds with behavior issues, feather abuse, or medical issues. We will require information from you about the parrot you wish to place, and if there is any question of the bird being suitable for the program we will not include it in the Assisted Adoptions Program.
