Amelio is with Feathered Family under a foster arrangement at this point. His owner is in the hospital and we are hopeful that he will be able to return home when she is better. Amelio has been with us nearly a year now, which is a terribly long foster period. However, his owner has returned to health, and arrangements are being made for him to return home as soon as possible.
If not for Feathered Family this bird would never have been given the chance to return to the family that he loves so much. He spent time (as soon as it was possible) talking with his beloved owner on speakerphone while with us, and has maintained his bond. Just the sound of her voice makes him happy and talkative. We are proud to have been able to assist in keeping this family together, even in the event of a serious medical tradegy.
Amelio's prior family has decided that things in their life just cannot seem to come back together enough to allow them to take him back home. While they don't want to "give up" they have requested that we allow him to be available for adoption at this time. If he gets a new family before they can get things ready at home, they will be happy for him. If not, at least they have given him the chance.
So, at this time Amelio is available for adoption. He is a good bird, but does have cage territoriality issues and will bite inside the cage. He prefers women to men greatly, and very much enjoys the company of other birds but can be a bit rough if allowed to physically interact with them.
